Center Munch is a town in the Nest Fallows region of Munchkinland, serving as the historic provincial capital.
History[]
Although the city of Center Munch is the historic capital of Munchkinland, the most senior of the province's Eminences, the Eminent Thropp, lived at Colwen Grounds, a remote estate in the Nest Hardings region (the isolation of the privileged).
The Yellow Brick Road runs all over Munchkinland, starting at Center Munch and ending at the southern gate of the Emerald City, known as the Munchkin Mousehole.
A good part of the town of Center Munch and outliers had gathered for a religious festival where young students had been receiving prizes, given personally by the Eminence Nessarose Thropp, also known to the citizens as the tyrant Wicked Witch of the East. Experiencing a sudden darkness, they all dove into the shrubbery and nearby homes. They heard a weird whistling followed by a shattering crash at which precise moment all their eyes were closed in terror. When they emerged from hiding, they found that a farmhouse had stove in the grandstand erected for the occasion in the center of the town square, not far from the start of the Yellow Brick Road. Outsider, Dorothy Gale had landed right in town and killed Nessarose, much to the delight of the citizens of Center Munch. Daffodil Scully was one of the many witnesses.
By the time of the Eminenceship of Mombey, the capital had been moved from Center Munch to Bright Lettins. After her defeat it is unknown if the capital moved back to Center Munch.
