Fiyero Tigelaar is a supporting character in the film Wicked and Wicked: For Good. He is "a roguish and carefree prince,"[2] who turns out to possess a deeper mind and greater reserves of courage and strength of character than anyone could have imagined.
History[]
Wicked[]
Fiyero Tigelaar is the free spirited prince of the Arjiki tribe, from Winkie Country. After being repeatedly expelled from previous schools for his rebellious and improper behavior, Fiyero finds his way to Shiz University, enrolling well after most students. The night he arrives, he stumbles across a peculiar girl with green skin, Elphaba Thropp, nearly crashing into her with his horse. Fiyero quickly apologizes, but is left momentarily speechless by Elphaba. Seeing him stare, Elphaba gives the same speech she gave when she arrived at school explaining how she is naturally green. Fiyero, who isn't bothered by her skin color at all offers to give Elphaba a ride on his horse, but Elphaba firmly refuses. Fiyero is left stunned that a girl had rejected him, but quickly brushes it off.
The next morning, Fiyero arrives at Shiz University, immediately catching the attention and admiration of the students, including Galinda Upland, who quickly catches Fiyero's attention. Galinda offers to give Fiyero a tour of Shiz, making their way to the campus library. Fiyero sees Elphaba and waves at her but she just rolls her eyes, next he meets Boq Woodsman (who happens to have a crush on Galinda) greets Fiyero. He then entices the students to embrace his philosophy to "dance through life", and encourage them to join him and Galinda at the Ozdust Ballroom after curfew that night, despite Bob explaining that it's against the school rules to go out after dark. Once they arrive at the Ballroom, Fiyero and Galinda soon enough become the life of the party, and signify the start of their relationship. Elphaba as well arrives at the Ozdust Ballroom, wearing a conical hat Galinda gave her as a prank to convince her to come. Fiyero watches as Elphaba dances by herself while others mocked her, expressing his admiration for her indifference to what others think of her.
Fiyero develops a close friendship with Elphaba, and was just as horrified as her to witness their Animal history professor Doctor Dillamond being fired from Shiz University and forcefully removed by guards. When their new professor, Doctor Nikidik, demonstrates his cage, which is designed to prevent Animals from speaking, on a frightened lion cub, Elphaba uses a bouquet of poppies to put everyone except herself and Fiyero to sleep. The two use the opportunity to rescue the cub from the cage and run deep into the woods to set him free, where they share a genuine moment of understanding between each other, before Fiyero rushes back.
Soon after, Elphaba is recognized by the Wizard of Oz and is invited to meet him at the Emerald City. Fiyero joins Galinda (who then changes her name to Glinda) and the other students at the train station to see Elphaba off. Fiyero and Elphaba have an awkward and tense reunion, but he wishes her good luck on her journey. Sometime after, Fiyero hears from Madam Morrible's broadcast that Elphaba has stolen the Grimmerie and has been labelled as a Wicked Witch. As the student body is being evacuated, Fiyero takes off on horseback, presumably to find Elphaba.
Wicked: For Good[]
Wicked- For Good - Fiyero's Journey
At the start of the next film, Fiyero has taken up the role of the newly appointed captain of the Wizard's Gale Force. To his surprise, the Wizard's agent Madame Morrible publicly declares his engagement to Glinda at the opening ceremony for the Yellow Brick Road. He agrees, though seemingly reluctantly, and he is bothered by the emptyheadedness of the people of Oz at believing that Elphaba could be melted by water, causing him to leave the ceremony early. ("Thank Goodness/I Couldn't Be Happier")
Just before the wedding ceremony, Elphaba travels to the Emerald City to confront the Wizard. The wizard and Glinda together try to convince her to join forces with them in exchange for the Animals freedom. Though Elphaba agrees at first, during the ceremony she discovers a secret room where he has imprisoned many animals, including Doctor Dillamond. She confronts the Wizard and releases the Animals, setting off a stampede which disrupts Fiyero and Glinda's wedding. Fiyero rushes to them with the rest of the Gale force, but distracts them by telling them to go and get water and imprisons the Wizard to allow Elphaba time to escape, choosing to go with her to her hideout.

Once there, the two share a passionate romance ("As Long As You're Mine"), where Fiyero expresses how he sees her and after kissing Elphaba tells Fiyero that for the first time she feels what everyone calls her, "wicked”. Sometime later, Fiyero tells Elphaba that she should move her hideout to his family’s castle, Kiamo Ko, as they have never lived there but also if she stays in her current home, she'll be found. Their romance is interrupted when Elphaba has a vision that her sister Nessa is in danger from a house flying through the sky.
Elphaba insists on going alone and flies off on her broom, however Fiyero refuses to stay behind and follows on foot, where he meets with the newly released flying monkeys, now loyal to Elphaba. At the sight of her sisters death, Elphaba is ambushed by the wizard’s guard. Fiyero and the monkeys arrive shortly after, and Fiyero ensures Elphaba’s escape by threatening to kill Glinda, though this is a bluff. Fiyero instructs Chistery to look after Elphaba. As Elphaba escapes, Fiyero is held by the guards and Glinda demands they stop explaining they care for each other, Fiyero apologizes for hurting Glinda before being dragged out into a cornfield and tortured for information by the guards. At Elphaba’s hideout, she attempts to cast a spell in order to save him, but stops, presuming him dead. Unbeknownst to her, the spell had transformed Fiyero into a Scarecrow, saving his life. Convinced, however, that Fiyero is dead or on the verge of death, as well as the fact that whenever she tried to do good, she did the opposite Elphaba then embraces the wickedness within herself, declaring that she will never do a good deed again. ("No Good Deed")
Fiyero is discovered with a girl named Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto who had been swept into Oz, who are also traveling with Boq as the Tin Man and the lion that Fiyero freed along with Elphaba, who is now known as the Cowardly Lion. He hides his true identity from them and they make their way to see the Wizard of Oz. He tells them that they must bring him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West. The group then sets off to kill Elphaba ("March Of The Witch Hunters"). Using his torn sleeve, he would give a message to Chistery, to inform Elphaba that he is alive. Eventually, the group would return to Oz without Fiyero, as the latter had slipped away in order to return to Kiamo Ko.
Elphaba fakes her death, remaining in secret underneath a trap door. ("For Good") Fiyero reunites with her, and the pair flee to the land beyond Oz, a vast desert.
Personality[]
Fiyero is charming and carefree, not caring about the responsibilities of education, or that he has been kicked out of his previous schools. He puts forward the image of being shallow and self-absorbed. He is rather flirtatious and is implied to have been quite the philanderer before he arrived at Shiz. Beneath his bravado however, Fiyero a man who cares about others, more than he lets on. He can be quite compassionate and generous when push comes to shove. He refuses to stand by and allow Elphaba to be harmed, even when facing arrest and what would, without Elphaba’s intervention, be a death sentence.
