Michelle Yeoh (born Yeoh Choo Kheng, Chinese: 杨紫琼) is a Malaysian actress who in 2024 went onto portray the supporting character of Madame Morrible the Dean of Sorcery at Shiz University[2] in Wicked: Part I, and will reprise the role in the 2025 sequel Wicked: Part II.[3]
Biography[]
On December 2022, Yeoh's casting was announced alongside Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael.[4] On November 21, 2024 Yeoh mentioned that when Jon M. Chu offered her the role, she was thrilled, but also terrified she wouldn’t be able to measure up to her costars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo who can actually sing. She further stated how she didn’t go into shooting the movie unprepared, Dominic, the film's music supervisor, found her an amazing coach named Marianne, who took her through some music lessons...[5]

- At the film‘s Los Angeles premiere Yeoh remembered how Chu had asked her to read the script for Part One with an eye to play Madame Morrible, and “at that point [I] had no clue what he was talking about because I had not seen Wicked the musical before. I knew The Wizard of Oz, who doesn’t, but not Wicked, because I hadn’t been going to the theaters and not doing what I love which is watching musicals...”[6]
