Nessarose's Wheelchair is the support that Nessarose has since she doesn't have the ability to walk. The wheelchair is only used for Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz, since that was not how Nessarose is disabled in Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Act 1[]

Nessarose Shiz Student

Amanda Rose as Nessarose

The wheelchair for Act 1 is simple and functional, with a look that Edwardian-era conveyances. Nessarose operates the wheelchair mostly herself, but she is occasionally pushed by Elphaba and later Boq. She has been pushed by her father and Madam Morrible. During the dance, Boq gets Nessarose onto the dance-floor and dances with her. The wheelchair does move itself when Elphaba loses control, causing it to spin around and go back to her, making Nessarose powerless to control it.

Act 2[]

Nessarose Governess

Jenna Leigh Green as Nessarose

When Nessarose becomes Governor of Munchkinland, she upgrades her wheelchair with inlaid gold and plush red velvet upholstery. She is mostly pushed by Boq, as he is her personal servant.

She doesn't use her wheelchair once Elphaba has enchanted her jeweled shoes to make her walk for the first time in her life.

Trivia[]

  • Nessarose has two act 1 wheelchairs, the first one is remote controlled by someone off-stage. She operates the wheelchair herself until Madam Morrible takes the chair and flips the switch, turning on the remote. This is for when Elphaba accidentally loses control and magically spins Nessarose around. When Elphaba grabs the wheelchair and flips the switch, turning off the remote.
