The workshop cast featured Kristin Chenoweth as G(a)linda and Idina Menzel as Elphaba and David Burnham as Fiyero. Stephanie J Block also did an early readings of the show.

Wicked had old and new songs by Stephen Schwartz from the musical Wicked 2001 Workshop, including cut songs Which Way Is the Party, later replaced by the song Dancing Through Life, and Making Good, both sang by Block and Menzel, later replaced by The Wizard and I.
