William Youmans originated the role of Doctor Dillamond in the Broadway production. He later reprised his role in the Chicago production.

When the Original Broadway production first opened on October 30, 2003, William Youmans played Doctor Dillamond. He left the cast on July 26, 2005 where he was replaced by Sean McCourt (Original Witch's Father/Ozian Official). Then, on December 12, 2006, he reprised his role in the Chicago Company replacing Timothy Britten Parker. Youmans left that production on January 16, 2007, and was replaced by K. Todd Freeman.
